Gypsy, Appaloosa mare
March 2013 Update: Gypsy was adopted and is now in her forever home!
Meet Gypsy. She is an approximately 7-year-old mare that Triple R took in on Saturday, July 7, 2012. She weighs about 600 pounds and needs to add another 300. She is a very sweet Appaloosa. She may have been ridden, but we’re not sure. She was tied to a tree in front of a volunteer fire chief’s home in a rural area east of Monticello. She is being fostered by Kateri Timmes.
July 22 update from Kateri: Miss Gypsy is doing well! She has put on some good weight. I know she has a lot more to go, but she is looking much better 🙂 She had her hooves trimmed last week and so far has had a wonderful personality. She stands so calmly to be groomed, and loves the attention. I hope that is a sign that she will be a good girl under saddle.
August 21 update from Kateri: She is such a sweet mare. I cannot say enough good things about her. I have ridden her English and Western. She could be successful in any discipline at this point, with more training. She is becoming more willing and understanding of what I ask her to do. She has been on a trail ride around the neighborhood and did excellent. She thought the recycle bins were a bit scary, but she quickly got over that. I also asked her to jump a small jump a couple of times which she took to fairly well. She also loaded into the trailer yesterday in 5-10 minutes, which was a huge improvement from when she first came out here. She is easy to catch, groom, tack up, etc. She is such a sweet girl, who more than deserves a forever home.
September 25 update from Kateri: Here is a video of Gypsy. She is a sweet girl, and is enjoyable to ride 🙂
