About Spirit
This handsome guy came to Triple R about two years ago. He was the only horse of an elderly couple and was used to being doted upon by his owners. When they passed away, their family was unable to care for Spirit, and Triple R took him in. Since then, he has been lovingly cared for by his foster. He appears to have been an only horse for much of his life; however, he has adjusted very well to horse companions. Most recently, he has fallen in love with his newest pasture mate, Beauty.
His favorite activities include sun bathing, rain bathing, watching the neighbor cows, and ear scratches. He loves being the center of attention- even going so far as to stand between another horse and the camera when he’d decided that she’d had enough attention. And you’ll be his friend for life if you swat away any pesky flies that he can’t reach.
He has been ridden Western and loves to explore the trails around his foster home. He does have a small growth on his back right(??) leg, but this doesn’t appear to bother him. He is a smart and sometimes stubborn horse, who, at the age of 20, still shows glimmers of the younger horse who earned the name Spirit. He can be pushy when it comes to treats, and he’s alert to any opportunity to test his handlers. However, he’s also extremely responsive to training, making him best suited for an advanced beginner or intermediate rider.
